2010 VBS Musical Premiere Audition Info

The Young Musicians of Capital Baptist Association have been invited to premiere the 2010 VBS Musical at the National Preschool/Children’s Convention to be held in Arlington, Texas, October 13, 2009.   Only Young Musicians attending Young Musician’s Camp 2009 will be eligible to audition.  Young Musicians who would like to audition must come to camp with: 

  • Signed Permission to Audition Form:
    • Parent’s signature agreeing that the child will attend all rehearsals and has permission to travel to Arlington on October 13, 2009 for the performance.
    • Music Minister’s or Choir Director’s signature
  • $5.00 Nonrefundable Audition Fee
  • Those auditioning may choose what to sing; a past VBS song would probably be the best choice.

2009 Young Musician’s Camp Parent Meeting Info

What to pack?
• Clothes, swimsuit, toiletries, etc.
• Medications – These will be given to Carla Brown and she will make sure they are given according to directions.
• Bedding and towels (a sleeping bag will work fine)
• Bible
• Spending money – There is a gift shop and concessions available. Please make sure your students are careful with their money and keep it in a secure place.
• Jeans for the Thursday evening presentation. T-shirt will be provided.
• The Falls Creek dress code is to be followed at all times. It states: “Shirts must be worn at all times. No halters, mid-riffs, or like apparel shall be worn on the grounds, and no apparel with slogans contrary to the Christian belief. Proper cover-ups must be worn to and from the swimming area. Young Musicians and adults may now wear modest shorts to the worship services.”

What NOT to pack?
• Gum or candy – concessions will be available but we are not allowed to have gum or candy in the dormitory area so it will be best to just leave it at home.
• Ipod, NintendoDS, etc.
• Anything Mom and Dad think is a bad idea to bring.

Daily schedule
• The students are divided into groups according to grade level. All of the rehearsals and other organized activities will be attended with their group. Each group will have a group leader sponsor that will accompany them at all times.
• The daily program for Young Musicians Camp includes Music Rehearsals, Music Calisthenics, Choreography, Recreation, Bible Study, Evening Worship and Cabin Devotions.

Concert Information
• Thursday, August 6, 7:00 p.m.
First Southern Baptist Church

Del City, OK
• Our designated area for luggage pickup at First Southern is Rm 118 in the Education Building (enter at the Welcome Center). Students need to be picked up in that location following the concert. Please check them out with Leslee or their group leader.

YMC FAQs

What is Young Musician’s Camp?  YMC is the largest children’s music camp in the world. The children learn a new musical at camp then give a presentation at Del City, First Southern Baptist Church on Thursday, August 6. This year will mark the 40th anniversary of Young Musician’s Camp.

When and Where is YMC?  YMC is August 3-6 at Falls Creek Baptist Assembly.  We will leave QSBC at noon on Monday, August 3, and return Thursday, August 6, to Del City First Southern Baptist Church for the final concert at 7 p.m. Children will need to be picked up at Del City First Southern after the concert.

Who Can Attend YMC?  YMC is for children who will be entering 4th, 5th, 6th or 7th grade. You do not have to attend children’s choir or youth choir at QSBC to be able to attend camp.

What Is the Theme for 2009?  To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Young Musicians Camp, Pam Andrews is writing a musical for our choir to premiere.  The musical, Land of the Giants, has a baseball theme.

What Will We Do at Camp?  The week of Young Musicians Camp includes music rehearsals, music games, choreography, recreation, Bible study, evening worship and cabin devotions. The daily schedule is listed below:
